Do you have the right (enough) profile?

"I am open to new challenges."

We often hear this sentence at Kontrast Personalberatung - from candidates with impressive careers, management responsibility and sound expertise. But on closer inspection, what is often missing is what is at the beginning of every successful placement:

A sharply contoured, visible profile.

Not just on LinkedIn or XING. But also in your CV, in your professional self-image - and in the way you talk about your own role.

Profile = clarity + impact + fit

Many CVs show stations, tasks, titles - but no profile.

A good profile answers three key questions:

  1. What am I particularly good at?
  2. What do I stand for as a manager or specialist?
  3. In what context do I have the strongest impact?

If you can answer these questions, you create orientation for yourself - and for potential employers.

CV with a statement - not a list

A modern CV for managers or specialists needs more than just bullet points.

Instead of:

"Responsible for team of 15 employees."

Better:

"Set up and developed an interdisciplinary team (15 employees) as part of the site expansion, with a focus on process digitization and KPI-driven management."

Context beats tasks. Making success visible, emphasizing impact - that is profile building.

Visible online - but not arbitrary

LinkedIn or XING are not an end in themselves. But if you only post a digital CV there, you are wasting potential.

👉 If you don't show yourself, you won't be found.

👉 If you present yourself randomly, you will be overlooked.

👉 If you present yourself incorrectly, you will be filtered out.

It's not enough to have "Head of" in the title. The decisive factor is whether it is recognizable what you have moved, changed and taken responsibility for.

What we see at Kontrast: The best candidates...

... are not necessarily the loudest. But they have a clear profile, a credible career strategy that is relevant to the context - and can describe their role in the company in a differentiated way.

That doesn't just help you find them. It also helps with the right placement.

Our advice for you:

  • Sharpen your CV: Impact instead of tasks.
  • Update your online profile: context, not just career. And honesty counts
  • Reflect: In which corporate environment am I really strong?

Because the next step in your career doesn't need a new label - it needs a good professional profile.
